The Application for Divorce requires information in relation to existing parenting arrangements for the children. This is because the Registrar needs to be satisfied as to the parenting arrangements for the children prior to granting the Application for Divorce.
Although the Application requires information relating to existing parenting arrangements, the Registrar will not hear any parenting disputes between you and your former partner or make any parenting orders even if it is by consent. The Divorce proceedings are a forum designed specifically and only for the process of dissolving your marriage.
If you seek to change the parenting arrangements for the children, you will need to take appropriate steps in relation to this and this cannot be done through the divorce process. For information in relation to parenting arrangements please read our Parenting and Children section.
