Can I take someone with me to Family Law Court?

Collaboration Law Family Law Court

It is acceptable and quite normal to have one or two support people who come into the Court room with you. However, any witness in your case cannot come into the Court room until after s/he has been cross examined.

Anyone who does come into the Court room with you will not be able to sit right next to you, but will instead likely be seated behind you. You will not be able to speak to them while the judicial officer is in the Court room.

In choosing your support people, you should ensure that they can control themselves adequately and will not react to things said in Court. Furthermore, you need to consider how any other party may react to their presence, and whether having them attend will inflame the situation.
